...Where every day is a Bellyrub Day!
The BRK staff receives regular, on going training regarding dogs in general and dog behavior, specifically, to be sure they are qualified to handle your dog in the daycare environment effectively. All of the staff has been Certified through PetTech in Pet CPR, First Aid and Care for your pets. Some of the staff Bellyrubbers are also in training to become Certified Dog Trainers!! This is a added value to you and your dog. This additional knowledge will really help them to understand the dog dynamics within playgroups and, help them to manage these groups more effectively.
I graduated from Montin. I am a sophmore at UIC. I am majoring in Biological Sciences, although my first choice was Zooology because I love working with animals. Working at the BRK is fun and entertaining. I enjoy seeing all the dogs and being able to interact with them. I used to have a chocolate lab named Coco who, if you let her swim in the pond, would never come out! I'm excited to be living on campus in Chicago and I'm looking forward to college life. I hope to continue working with animals, especially dogs, in the future. They are so carefree to be with. When most of us talk to our dogs, we tend to forget they're not people.
Originally from Waukegan, I retired from Abbott Labs after 19 years of service and moved to Lombard around 2006. We have 2 dogs: Anankin, a Shepherd/Doberman mix and Abby, a Great Pyrenees, plus our cat, Chumba. I have a daughter and 2 granddaughters - Lauren (16) and Leah (11) - who live in Mississippi. I like to browse flea markets and garage sales. Most recently I graduated from Animal Behavior College and now officially have the title of an "Animal Behavior College Certified Dog Trainer" or ABCDT. It was a lot of work but I loved it. I plan on teaching classes at the Klub soon!
I love the beach and anything to do with being outside in the summer. I like working in the yard and going to casinos, and I like Nascar (Jeff Gordon is my favorite).
I joined the Bellyrub Klub in February, 2009. Prior to that I was, and still am, a career homemaker after working 20 years in the medical field. We have a 5-year-old female Dalmatian, Tache (French for spot) who adds sparkle and humor to our family, loves long walks and performs tricks for food. I am married to a fabulous Frenchman and we have a gloriously sweet, smart and funny daughter Natalie, who is in high school. I enjoy all forms of exercise, especially yoga and dance. I also enjoy horseback riding and belly-rubbing your beautiful pups!! Thanks you each for that privilege.
I am a graduate of North Park University with a BA in Psychology and just got married in June 2010. I have been around dogs my entire life ranging from small to large breeds. I have 3 dogs - my Yorkie Brody and my Lab mix Lucy and my Pitbull Cali who I recently adopted through the BRK from CACC. I have always been active in sports and love Da Bears. I love running and have even run the Chicago Marathon. I am very big into the music and movie scene although scary movies still make me hide.
I have been in retail management and spent 13 years with The Container Store. I was able to pick up some skills along the way and can help others to organize their junk drawers, closets, kitchens, and even garages! I left my retail career in July of 2010 to follow my dream of working with dogs and enrolled in the ABC dog obedience training course. I completed my externship at BRK and during this process fell in love with one of the foster dogs Jack. My husband and I adopted Jack in March of 2011. Upon graduation from the ABC program I spent some time working for a pet store but left there to come on board as a full time employee at the BRK. I am excited to put my training skills to work at BRK with the dogs and may even organize a junk drawer or two for fun!
My name is Matt Saunders I am 21 and live in Elmhurst. I graduated from York High School in 2008 and then attended College of DuPage for 2 years. I started working at the Bellyrub Klub in March 2011, shortly after, I adopted an American pit bull named Bella from CACC, through the BRK. In 2003 I made a new years resolution to be a vegetarian and I have been one ever since. I really enjoy working at the Bellyrub Klub and hope to see you and your dog there soon!
I am married to Bob and have one son, Scott who is finishing his PhD (I am so proud of him!) and the most perfect daughter-in-law a mother could ask for who is finishing her masters. I was an executive assistant to the president of Boise Cascade/OfficeMax and coordinator for their board of directors. I got tired of the corporate world and retired 2 years ago. Have always loved the real world of animals and have had dogs and cats all my life. Presently I have a brown shepherd mix named Charlie and a black shepherd mix named Sox (yep, husband a Sox fan , sorry Cubs fans). We can thank Sue for Sox! Since my dogs think Bellyrub Klub is their second home, thought I might just like to spend more time there myself.
I graduated from WillowBrook and currently attend C.O.D. while working part time at the BRK. I plan on majoring in Music Therapy. I play the clarinet in the Chamber Orchestra at C.O.D. as well as in a community band in Bensenville. I have 2 dogs: Chili an Autralian Shep and Clara Belle a Corgi/Aussie Mix. I'd like to be a Music Therapist after I graduate but would also like to run my own Dog Shelter some day too.
