Beyond the Basics

Run for Fun/Agility for Fun

This class combines Agility for Fun with hurdle racing. Run through the tunnel, jump through the tire, experience weave poles, balance on the teeter board, and master the hurdles. Jump as many as five times in a row! Great for all dogs with energy to burn, and who love running and trying new things. Practice makes perfect!! You and your dog will get better with each week that passes as you begin to master hand cues and body language while picking up speed and accuracy on the course. This class is a lot of fun for you and your dog and, what a great way to strengthen your relationship with your dog! No reason to worry about missing a class. Buy a punch card and come to six classes any Sat. or Thurs. night you can, within 90 days of purchasing the session. (see Sue to get your card)
Prerequisite: Fido Foundations (or trainer's recommendation)
Class size: 2 to 5 dogs.

Outdoor Adventures

This class meets at different outdoor locations each weekend so you can work on handling challenges when going for a walk, playing at the dog park, romping around in the forest preserves, running on the Prairie Path, or just hanging around taking it all in. This class is for any dog, regardless of level of training.
Prerequisite: Canine Connections (or trainer's recommendation)
Class size: 2 to 6 dogs.

Canine Good Citizen

Canine Good Citizen Track 1 is a certification program designed to reward dogs that have good manners at home and in their community. This program stresses responsible dog ownership and basic manners for dogs. It also serves as the first step toward therapy dog training.

CGC: Track 1

Track 1 is for those participants who are taking the CGC program for the first time. As a part of Week One, the trainer will review the 10 steps required to pass the test and obtain certification. The goal of Track 1 is to prepare owners and their dogs for the final CGC evaluation, conducted by a certified CGC evaluator as designated by the American Kennel Club. If the dog's owner or trainer feels more training and practice is necessary, there will be a Track 2 at a discounted rate (to be scheduled).
Track 1 meets for 8 weeks.
Prerequisite: Canine Connections (or trainer's recommendation)
Class size: 2 to 6 dogs.

Beyond the Basics

Rally Obedience** NEW CLASS**

Rally is a sport in which you and your dog complete a course that has been designed by the Instructor. The two of you proceed at your own pace through a course of designated stations (10 - 20, depending on the level). Each of these stations has a sign providing instructions regarding the next skill that is to be performed. Work as a team as you make your way through the course, performing different obedience skills at each station until you have finished them all. It is fun and challenging!! Another great opportunity to develop and strengthen your relationship with your dog while having fun and learning!!
Min/Max 2/6** req: Canine Connections/Adv. Beginner

About the Classes

Classes meet once a week for 6 weeks (unless otherwise noted) and last an hour. Because we keep classes small, there is still plenty of time for practice and discussion.

Participants can register up to the first day of class, but since classes are small, they fill up fast. A 6-week session may be cancelled if there are less than two participants.

To register, drop by, call us at 630-54-BELLY or send us an email.

Class Requirements

  • Your dog should have a flat collar or a training/martingale collar with appropriate tags
  • Use a 6-foot leash - no retractable leashes
  • No choke collars or pinch collars are allowed

And bring plenty of your dog's favorite treats! The best treats are moist with a strong scent and come in small pieces, or can be broken or torn into small pieces.
